Student census scope and original labels

Source: Taiwan MOE 大專院校各校科系別學生數, dataset 9622, reused under Open Government Data License 1.0. The catalogue identifies October 15 as its annual reference date. It covers students with formal enrollment status, including the stated domestic and international degree populations; it excludes the listed non-degree exchange, credit-only and other non-enrolled categories.

The catalogue states that the degree-preparatory population of international specialized programs was excluded through source year 112 and included from 113. Recent files also contain separate Chinese-language preparatory columns. Keep that coverage change in mind before comparing annual totals.

Each population retains the complete school name, department name, source codes, day label, qualification label, county label and system label. Different named classes can share the same department code. They are kept separate here and are not combined with the aggregated department overview. A change in any of these labels starts a separate retained series; no organizational continuity is inferred.

A printed “ -” sex subtotal is stored as a source marker and remains missing numerically. Its meaning is not specified in the catalogue text we checked. It is not zero, and missing male or female subtotals are not reconstructed from other cells. Male/female labels reproduce the source categories. Historical code strings retain their original widths; recent files can print a school code such as 1 where another source prints 0001. Codes are not padded or automatically joined across those files.

These are historical registered-student counts. A positive count does not establish current admissions, teaching language, available places, professional recognition or a teaching campus. Inspect the separate department overview · Browse this student census.
