Identify the institution before researching an application
A university name in a search result can lead to an old page, a similarly named institution or a program at a different campus. Start your Taiwan research with the institution identity, then move to its current application instructions.
The connected Taiwan MOE institution directory uses the Ministry of Education’s annual directory file. It retains the four-digit school code, source academic year, original school name, ownership and system labels, county label, address, telephone and stated website.
The source names are Traditional Chinese. CollegeVerse labels those observations zh-Hant and keeps the original text. The connected current file does not provide English institution names, so we do not invent an English name or borrow one from an older file without matching evidence.
Search by the original name or four-digit code
Use the name as it appears in the source, a county label, or an exact four-digit school code. Keep leading zeroes: a code such as 0001 is a source identifier, not a number to shorten to 1.
The public directory starts with the latest connected academic year. An institution detail page shows the retained annual observations for that code, including earlier names and contact details. Different codes are not joined just because their names look similar.
If you begin with an English name, locate the institution’s current official identity and original Chinese name before matching a directory record. A translated search phrase alone is not evidence that two organizations are the same.
Read the source year separately from the collection date
For example, source academic year 115 corresponds to the 2026–2027 calendar-year label used in National Taiwan Normal University’s official academic calendar. CollegeVerse shows that calendar-year label beside the original source year. It does not assign semester dates or an entry deadline from the directory.
An academic-year label belongs to the observation in the Ministry’s file. A snapshot date describes when CollegeVerse collected that file. Downloading it today does not turn every older row into a current contact record.
Compare the latest retained row with the annual history. Changes in a name, location or website are useful questions for further research, but they do not by themselves establish a merger, a new degree or an application opening. Absence from the latest connected year does not establish closure; older observations remain visible with that limitation.
What do the directory labels tell you?
The connected file states ownership labels such as 公立 and 私立, and system labels such as [1]一般, [2]技職 and [3]師範. CollegeVerse preserves those source values beside the school code and year.
Those labels are not a list of available qualifications or an assessment of your eligibility. They do not establish a teaching language, a degree’s current recognition, a specific tuition category or professional licensing rights. Follow the relevant current program and authority instructions for those questions.
Check contact details before relying on them
Directory contact observations can include historical values and source errors. CollegeVerse retains the original website text in annual history. Values with a repeated protocol, an incomplete conventional institution domain or a numeric address are not automatically turned into access links.
Do not silently fix an old source address by guessing a new domain. Check the institution’s current official identity and contact route, and save the page and date you used. The Ministry’s directory entry and the current institution page answer different questions.
Build a separate program evidence sheet
After identifying the institution, record the exact program, campus, qualification and intended entry cycle. Find the current applicant route, required documents, teaching language, charges and deadline instructions relevant to that route. Keep those items separate from the institutional directory facts.
| Research item | Evidence to keep |
|---|---|
| Institution identity | Original name, source code and academic year |
| Exact study option | Current degree title, program and campus page |
| Applicant route | Cycle-specific official instructions |
| Education costs | Current published charge basis and applicant category |
| Deadline | Official date, stated time zone and source checked |
Use the TWD budget worksheet with amounts you have verified for the program. It organizes arithmetic; it does not provide Taiwan tuition figures or convert currencies. The deadline worksheet stores your own verified dates rather than supplying official deadlines.
Keep the source with your shortlist
The Ministry’s dataset catalogue identifies the official directory resource and its update information. CollegeVerse links the catalogue and connected CSV, retains source snapshots and attributes the data under the stated Open Government Data License.
Use that evidence to identify institutions and formulate current questions. Finish application decisions with the institution’s current program instructions, rather than treating an annual directory observation as an admissions guarantee.
