What does the Ontario programme dataset tell me?

The connected Government of Ontario workbook contains historical fall full-time headcount observations at publicly funded reporting institutions. CollegeVerse selects its Program worksheet for source fiscal year 2024-2025. Each row has an institution reporting label, an institution-defined programme name, a grouped study level and a headcount or suppression marker.

This is one provincial dataset. It does not cover every Canadian university, private institution or current course. Use the Ontario directory to explore the connected observations and keep that geographic scope visible in your notes.

Why does the page use institution reporting labels?

The workbook supplies labels such as Toronto, Waterloo and Ontario Tech. We retain the reported text instead of assigning an unverified national identifier, campus location or legal name. The site derives its own navigation keys; those keys are not government institution codes.

Programme names also come from the reporting institution. Some contain French wording even though the source compilation is English. A name's language does not establish the language in which a course is taught. Find the exact current programme and campus page before treating a source label as an application option.

Are Undergraduate and Graduate degree types?

They are the source's grouped study levels. Undergraduate cannot automatically be reduced to bachelor degrees, and Graduate cannot automatically be reduced to master's degrees. The associated dictionary describes qualifications being sought, grouped at those two broad levels.

A programme title may contain a credential abbreviation, but that is still institution-supplied text. Keep the grouping and title together. To investigate a specific bachelor's, master's or doctoral route, use the institution's current qualification description rather than inferring it from the group alone.

What does an asterisk mean?

The dataset suppresses small categories. In the connected Program observations, an asterisk is shown as “Suppressed (*)” and the stored numeric count is unavailable. We do not estimate it, replace it with zero or reconstruct it using other tables.

A reported zero remains zero. It is a different observation from suppression. Neither a zero nor a suppressed count establishes that a programme is closed, currently open or accepting applications. A missing row from a later source check also does not establish closure; earlier observations and their source evidence are retained.

Which year should I record?

Record the complete fiscal-year label exactly as provided. The dictionary defines fiscal year as the source funding year aligned with April 1 to March 31. The measure concerns fall full-time students, but the fiscal label is not a verified admissions intake or current academic-calendar instruction.

The workbook file names 2024-25. Its associated dictionary filename refers to 2022-23, while the dictionary's internal reference mentions 2023-24 reporting procedures. We verified the selected Program fields and headcount definition against the connected file. A later-year source must receive its own scope review; it cannot inherit an assumed current meaning simply because its columns look familiar.

Can I join these observations to US CIP records?

The workbook has a separate classification worksheet, but it does not provide a row-by-row link between every institution-defined programme name and a US CIP record. Its dictionary describes the Canadian classification context. CollegeVerse keeps the selected programme-headcount observations separate from US historical first-major awards.

An enrolment observation counts a different population from an annual award observation. Do not combine them to invent a completion rate, compare them as available places, or assign US definitions to Canadian programmes just because some classification numbers look similar.

How do I use a result for current study research?

Save the reporting label, programme name, source study group, fiscal year, suppression status and workbook link. Then find the current official institution page and record the exact credential, campus, curriculum, teaching language, entry cycle and applicant route.

Research tuition and living expenses separately using confirmed current figures in a CAD budget. This dataset supplies no fee quote, admission requirement, DLI status or permit eligibility. Use the appropriate current official service for those questions. The methodology page keeps these populations and limitations visible.
