Check the period before comparing Korean tuition

An annual amount and a semester amount cannot be compared as if they describe the same period. The Korea Student Aid Foundation's university average tuition dataset explicitly defines its average tuition as annual and labels the monetary field in won. Use that definition for this specific dataset.

The separate nationwide standard dataset and Study in Korea tuition download have their own fields and populations. A period confirmed for one file does not automatically apply to another. Check the original dataset before copying a fee into a budget.

What an average can help you research

An institutional average can help identify questions for a shortlist. It does not establish the fee for your specific department, degree level, nationality, scholarship or intake. Keep the source date and original institution name next to the amount in your notes.

Ask the institution for the fee schedule that covers your exact route. Record tuition separately from admission fees, accommodation, insurance and other required charges. If an official offer supplies an individualized amount, keep its period and conditions visible instead of replacing it with a broad average.

A comparison worksheet

Item What to record
Institution Original name and the applicable campus scope
Programme Exact degree and department
Applicant route The category confirmed by the institution
Currency The source's stated currency
Period Annual, semester, or another explicitly defined period
Applicable year A stated fee year, kept separate from download date
Included charges Tuition and any separately listed mandatory charges
Aid Confirmed award, conditions, and covered period

Leave an unknown item unknown. A file modified in a particular year does not by itself establish that every fee applies to that academic year. Likewise, a zero in an unfamiliar column does not prove a tuition waiver or a free programme.

Campus and code differences matter

The Foundation's catalogue describes branch and campus figures as consolidated into the main institution. Do not silently attach that institutional average to every department or campus record in a different dataset. CollegeVerse's Korean admission disclosures use school and department codes for their own annual populations; no official crosswalk to this fee file has been established here.

For current decisions, verify the amount, covered period and applicant category on the university's official fee schedule. Use South Korea planning resources to organize the rest of your research. CollegeVerse has not published numeric tuition comparisons from the candidate fee files while their remaining field and year questions are being checked.
