What to verify for this unit

Original DUO RIO overview of funded current and future higher education education records. OPLEIDING means a programme and VARIANT a programme variant. Each unit page groups only the original OPLEIDINGSEENHEIDCODE; an offering or location is not counted as a separate degree. The list does not cover every private provider or guarantee that applications are open.

Reported start, end and intake dates remain source evidence rather than a promise of current availability. A missing end date does not establish an open intake. Names, qualification labels, codes, languages and missing values remain in Dutch. No CIP equivalence, inferred admissions conditions or institution-name matches are added. Contextual offering records and source-name aliases are preserved together.

OMSCHRIJVING
This MSc programme aims to educate future leaders in governments, NGOs and academia involved in governing sustainability challenges. It provides in-depth understanding on the social, political and legal dimensions of transformative governance and on the ways to put this to work in designs of and negotiations over novel governance arrangements. The programme' s embeddedness in Wageningen University of Life Sciences creates opportunities for the development of true interdisciplinary skills and science for impact, which are needed to address today's and future grand sustainability challenges. \n\nThe first year of the programme starts with an overview of these grand challenges for the governance of sustainability transformations. In subsequent courses of the first year, sustainability transformations will be dealt with from different angles, including legal, social and policy perspectives. Towards the end of the first year a research design course will prepare for doing the thesis in the second year, and do so in an ethical and inclusive way. The first year ends with a choice option between the Academic Master Cluster and the European Workshop Environmental Sciences and Management. Both these courses aim at doing interdisciplinary consultancy research in a team of students from different disciplines. Finally, there is an elective space of 18 credits in the first year to deepen and broaden the knowledge in specific topics or areas of one's own interest, to prepare for a desired labour market and academic profile. The second year is filled with the master thesis project and an internship with an external company or organization to prepare for a future job at academic level (either in the Netherlands or abroad).
