What to verify for this unit
- Use unit code 1001O5876 and the exact provider and location codes when checking the intended programme with its provider.
- Match VORM and VOERTAAL within the same contextual row, then check the current curriculum and teaching-language requirements with the provider.
- Check the original offering and intake dates below. An empty end date does not confirm an open intake or a current application deadline.
Original DUO RIO overview of funded current and future higher education education records. OPLEIDING means a programme and VARIANT a programme variant. Each unit page groups only the original OPLEIDINGSEENHEIDCODE; an offering or location is not counted as a separate degree. The list does not cover every private provider or guarantee that applications are open.
Reported start, end and intake dates remain source evidence rather than a promise of current availability. A missing end date does not establish an open intake. Names, qualification labels, codes, languages and missing values remain in Dutch. No CIP equivalence, inferred admissions conditions or institution-name matches are added. Contextual offering records and source-name aliases are preserved together.

- **Environmental Sciences: Where Earth's Systems meet Human Solutions**\n\nThe international BSc Environmental Sciences programme (BES) is a truly interdisciplinary programme which teaches students high-quality environmental sciences and equips them with important skills to address contemporary global environmental and sustainability challenges as responsible change makers. Based at one of the leading life sciences universities in the world, the BES programme takes a unique position in environmental sciences education in the Netherlands and internationally.\n\nThe programme includes core challenges associated with planetary boundaries, such as climate change, the depletion of natural resources, environmental pollution, the loss of biodiversity and water scarcity. Environmental Sciences focuses on the observation and analysis of these problems, as well as on the design, development and exploration of innovative and sustainable solutions. The programme teaches students to address complex and often transboundary environmental issues haracterized by uncertainties, lack of knowledge, diverging social interests, and conflicting views. As environmental and sustainability issues have societal causes and consequences that are linked through physical, chemical, and biological processes, students learn the required knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods, terminology and integration and application of both natural and social sciences. The programme also equips students with core academic, professional and personal skills to contribute to the transformation towards a more sustainable society, such as research design, systems thinking, data skills and GIS, collaboration, and integrating diverse types of knowledge and perspectives.\n\nIn the common part of the programme, students get a mix of courses that provide a solid foundation in natural and social sciences, while immediately mobilising this knowledge in skills-heavy integration courses with real-life problem-based national and international cases. Students learn how to do research and how to reflect on environmental challenges and theories, culminating in an individual BSc thesis project. Personal leadership skills are fostered from the start, helping students to develop their own path in the programme and become a responsible change maker for science and society.\n\nThe programme offers a choice between four specialisations:\n\n* Environmental Policy, Economics, and Law, focusing on the societal causes of environmental and sustainability issues, and on socio-political arrangements, and legal and economic instruments for prevention and control;\n* Environmental Quality and Ecosystems, focusing - within a systems approach framework - on the processes in and between the environmental compartments soil, wate
